Cosmetic Dentistry
If you feel dissatisfied with some aspect of your smile, cosmetic dentistry in The Woodlands, TX, is a simple way to improve it. Whether you have stained teeth, a chipped tooth, or another common cosmetic issue, Dr. Erika Cummings can help you achieve the smile you have always wanted.
What is Cosmetic Dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry procedures aim to improve the aesthetics and appearance of your teeth and smile. Insurance companies typically do not cover cosmetic procedures, but we are happy to offer several convenient payment plans. The one exception is if Dr. Cummings completes a cosmetic procedure that could also be restorative, such as repairing a tooth damaged in an accident.
Which Cosmetic Dentistry Procedure is Right for You?
Teeth lose their natural brightness over time, regardless of how well you take care of them. You might have had bright white teeth as a child, only to have dull-looking teeth that appear yellow or brown now. As the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedure, professional teeth whitening bleaches your teeth at the deepest level to make them appear several shades brighter.
Before having the procedure, Dr. Cummings takes impressions of your top and bottom rows of teeth and sends them to our dental laboratory. On the day of your appointment, she pours bleaching gel into each mold, and you sit in the dental chair for 30 to 60 minutes. If you prefer to do the treatments at home, you wear the customized molds to bed for several nights.
Bonding
Dental bonding involves Dr. Cummings applying tooth-colored composite resin to your tooth to disguise your discoloration, cracks, or other minor imperfections. This can also be a good option for reshaping a tooth that does not match the others.
Veneers
Made from medical-grade porcelain and ceramic, veneers attach to the front of a tooth to disguise a cosmetic dental issue. Typical examples include a large gap between teeth, stained teeth, or cracked or chipped teeth. Dr. Cummings must remove a small amount of enamel from your tooth before placing the veneer to ensure that it matches your other teeth.
The above are just three types of cosmetic dentistry procedures in The Woodlands, TX. Please schedule a consultation to learn more about each of them.
